वैसे तो पीरागढ़ी दिल्ली में जूतों के उत्पादन के लिए मशहूर है। एक्शन, कैम्पस से लेकर छोटी बड़ी सैकड़ों जूतों की व गारमेंट की कम्पनियां हैं जो दिल्ली के खाते पीते वर्ग की ज़रूरतों को पूरा करती हैं। परन्तु इन फैक्टरियों में काम करने वाले लाखों मज़दूरों के साथ बर्बर किस्म का शोषण होता है। ‘आप’ कि राखी बिड़ला खुद मंगोल पूरी क्षेत्र से विधायक हैं पर इन्हे मज़दूरो के उत्पीड़न से कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है। 2011 में ही पीरागढ़ी की H-9 फैक्ट्री में सुरक्षा में लापरवाही की वजह से 70 से अधिक मज़दूर जल कर मर गए थे पर प्रशासन मालिक को बचाने में लगा रहा था। यह फिर से दोहराया न जाये इसीलिए उद्योग नगर मज़दूर यूनियन और मंगोलपूरी मज़दूर यूनियन ने मज़दूरों के बीच मज़दूर मांगपत्रक आंदोलन चलाया जिससे कि आने वाली 6 फरवरी को केजरीवाल की सरकार इस बात की गारंटी करे कि पीरागढ़ी के मज़दूर भी अपने हक़ हासिल करें।
उत्तर-पश्चिमी दिल्ली में सघन प्रचार व संपर्क अभियान
बवाना, भोरगढ़, नरेला,मेट्रो विहार, होलम्बी कलां, शाहाबाद डेयरी, बादली, राजा विहार, सूरज पार्क,रोहिणी सेक्टर 26-27 आदि इलाकों में आम नागरिकों, गरीब मेहनतकशों-मज़दूरों को रोज़ समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ता है और उन्हें बुनियादी सुविधाएँ और अपने क़ानूनी श्रम अधिकार तक नहीं मिलते। इस पूरे इलाके में गन्दे पानी की निकासी, शौचालयों की कमी और साफ-सफाई, पार्कों की खस्ता हालत, पानी की सप्लाई, कारख़ानों में मालिकों-ठेकेदारों की लूट और अंधेरगर्दी,सड़कों की ख़राब हालत, स्कूल और डिस्पेंसरी की कमी, महिलाओं से छेड़खानी, गरीबों तक से छीना-झपटी, मारपीट, पुलिस की मनमानी और उत्पीड़न जैसी समस्याएँ रोज़ की बात हैं।
मुस्तफाबाद में मज़दूर मांगपत्रक अभियान
दिल्ली मज़दूर यूनियन और करावल नगर मज़दूर यूनियन ने मुस्तफाबाद में अभियान चलाया। मुस्तफाबाद के घर घर में खुले हुए वर्क शॉपों या दुकानो में हजारो मज़दूरो के लिए श्रम कानून सुनने में अनजाना लगता है। सचिवालय से निकले फैसले इन गलियों को दिल्ली में ढूंढ नहीं पाते हैं। केजरीवाल के मंत्रालय ने मेट्रो मज़दूरो से 13 जनवरी को वायदा किया कि वो दिल्ली में ठेकाकरण ख़त्म करेंगे और सुनिश्चित करेंगे कि मज़दूरो को उनके हक़ मिले। इस हक़ को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए मुस्तफाबाद,खजूरी और करावल नगर के मज़दूर भी अपनी समस्यायों को लेकर 6 फरवरी को केजरीवाल के दफ्तर, दिल्ली सचिवालय चलेंगे।

पहली बार दिल्ली में किसी सरकार या मुख्यमन्त्री ने मज़दूरों से कुछ ठोस वायदे किये हैं। लेकिन ये सभी वायदे अपने आप पूरे नहीं हो जायेंगे। हम मज़दूरों को हमसे किये गये वायदों की याददिहानी करानी होगी। क्योंकि बिना जन-दबाव के शायद ही दिल्ली सरकार ये वायदे पूरे करे। सरकार ये वायदे पूरे करके हम पर कोई अहसान नहीं करेगी, क्योंकि ये तो दशकों पहले पूरे हो जाने चाहिए थे। अगर अब भी हम इन वायदों को पूरा करवाने के लिए एकजुट होकर सरकार पर दबाव नहीं बनाते तो फिर हमारी बदहाली, ग़रीबी और तंगहाली के लिए सिर्फ़ हम जि़म्मेदार होंगे! 6 फरवरी को दिल्ली के लाखों मज़दूर दिल्ली सचिवालय पर इकट्ठा हो रहे हैं। ‘दिल्ली मज़दूर यूनियन’ आह्वान करती है कि आप भी इस आन्दोलन में शामिल हों और इन वायदों पर केजरीवाल सरकार से अमल करवायें!

Hundreds of workers staged a demonstration in Kolkata against the repression of workers’ movement in Gorakhpur and the anti-labour policies of the Uttar Pradesh government and sent a memorandum to UP Chief Minister Mayawati through the governor. More than 500 workers belonging to various factories including Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, Hindustan Engineering and Industries Ltd., Bharat Battery, Calcutta Jute Mill, Sura Jute Mill, American Refrigerators co. etc staged a protest demonstration yesterday at Esplanade, the administrative hub of Kolkata, under the banner of Shramik Sangram Samiti. Some organizations from Delhi, Punjab and Maharashtra are also planning protests on this issue.

Gorakhpur, 27th of May. The 12 labour leaders of the Gorakhpur workers movement who were arrested on May 20 have been released on bail today. After getting released Tapish Maindola of the Joint Workers Rights Struggle Front said that the agitation for the demands of workers would now be intensified further. He said that at the behest of the factory owners, administration is threatening and intimidating the workers and it is trying to crush the labour movement through bullets, canes and jail but it would not succeed. The workers are fighting for their basic rights and now they would not backtrack. Tapish also said that the factory owners have imposed this fight on the workers by forcefully locking out the V.N. Dyers Mills and by firing on workers in Ankur Udyog Ltd. But the administration is speaking the language of the owners and terming us as anarchists and anti-development.

The Workers’ Satyagraha which started in Gorakhpur from May 16 was dealt with lathi charge today by a heavy police force in the presence of the DIG. Brutal repression of workers in Gorakhpur
A new black chapter was added in the history of brutal repression of workers in Uttar Pradesh as the police action unleashed by the district administration to crush the peaceful ‘Mazdoor Satyagrah’ beginning from today to demand justice for the 3 May incident on firing on workers resembled action by the colonial police.
As soon as the workers assembled in the FCI ground near the Bargadwa industrial area to proceed towards the divisional commissioner’s office for the Mazdoor Satyagrah announced four days prior, they were charged with canes and water cannons by the police and PAC and their leader Prashant was arrested. Despite repeated attacks the workers kept on trying to reach the collectorate peacefully but throughout the day the police resorted to beatings and chased wherever they saw 10-12 workers together. Even workers going by public transport were stopped and beaten or threatened.
Firing and Repression on Factory Workers in Gorakhpur
The workers of Ankur Udyog Ltd., a factory in the Bargadwa industrial area in Gorakhpur, eastern UP were attacked by goons called by the factory owner the morning of 3 May. At least seven workers were seriously injured in firing by the goons. Apparently, the factory owners of Gorakhpur have been very angry with the workers for attending the May Day rally at Jantar Mantar, Delhi and one of them suspended 18 workers as soon as they went to resume work. The workers protested against this and the factory owner sent hired goons who fired on the workers injuring 19 of them. The workers had cornered the goons inside the factory but the police came and took them away and let them free. FIRs have been registered from both sides.
